From Shevchenko to Victory
February 02, 2023
The theatrical performance "From Shevchenko to Victory" will take place on March 12th at the Ukrainian National Home in New York City.
The performance is dedicated to Taras Shevchenko, a prominent Ukrainian poet, artist, thinker, and prophet, on the occasion of his 209th birthday. In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the organizers believe it is essential to celebrate Shevchenko's legacy and his dream of an independent and free Ukraine. They emphasize that Shevchenko's words are more relevant than ever and should be heard on the streets, not just during holidays.
The performance will feature Shevchenko's poems and verses that reflect the current Ukrainian reality, including "Haidamaky", "I Turned Thirteen", "The Dug-Up Grave", "Katerina", "It's All the Same to Me", "Behind the Barricade", "Osee Chapter XIV", "Three Souls", "At Catherine's", "Subotiv", "The Witch", and "To My Dead and Living and Unborn Compatriots in Ukraine and Beyond, My Friendly Message".
The play will be directed by Ukrainian National Artist Ivan Bernatsky, and the cast includes Levko Kulyak, Anna Terentieva, Olga Panko, Kristina Misiuk, Lyubov Pylyponiuk, Irina Makaruk, Slava Kurgan, Sergiy Tarnovetsky, Volodymyr Kurylo, Lyudmila Grabovska, Volodymyr Levytskyi, Anna Levenets, Aurora Hunko, Andriy Beynik, and Ivan Bernatsky himself.
The organizational director of the theater is Anatoliy Ridky, with assistance from Oksana Bavdis and Anna Levenets as assistant directors.
Tickets are available for purchase online only, and any remaining tickets can be bought at the door before the show.
The tickets are not assigned to specific seats, so you can choose any available seat based on the category of your ticket. Hostesses will be present to assist with seating arrangements.
The doors will open at 1:30 pm, and the performance will begin at 2:30 pm. The event is a charity event, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Additionally, there will be an auction featuring a traditional embroidered shirt from the early 20th century, donated by Ukrainian National Artist Ivan Bernatsky. The funds raised from the auction will also go towards supporting the Ukrainian Army.
